Tacoma - On September 14, Graymont’s plant in Tacoma, Washington held an Open House at their facility for vendors, family and friends. Eighty one people attended and had a great time touring the plant, enjoying a great barbecue of brats, burgers and fixings.

Exshaw – Graymont’s Exshaw Plant employees hosted their annual Stampede Breakfast on July 12. The highlight of this year’s breakfast was personally guided tours of the plant and quarry which are offered every second year. Invitations, outlining Graymont’s activities and plans for the upcoming year, were mailed to residents living in communities along the Bow Corridor.

Plattsburgh – Graymont's Plattsburgh Quarry in New York, held it's annual "Kid's Days". The program is a two full-day event that includes multiple tours of the quarry and presentations given by Graymont employees and other officials. Ninety students from the Oak Street Elementary school witnessed a large section of limestone on the far side of the quarry brought down by a series of 10 charges. They also saw the control room of a rock crusher, and were able to view and handle various samples in the Plattsburgh Quarry laboratory.

PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Graymont Western Canada Inc. (“Graymont”) announced today that it has applied for permits to build and operate a lime plant and associated limestone quarry. The proposed operations are located in the Regional District of Fraser Fort-George approximately 27 kilometres northeast of Prince George near the settlement of Giscome.

Boucherville - Graymont Western Canada's Pavilion Plant received a "Certificate of Achievement" award at the 45th Annual Mine Safety Awards held in Victoria, BC.  This award is presented annually by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, to mines and quarries with an injury frequency rate of zero.  Graymont is proud of and congratulates the employees of the Pavilion Plant for achieving this safety milestone for the year of 2006.  Graymont would like to thank Al Lucas and his team for their commitment to safety, because at Graymont, safety does come first.

Salt Lake City - Graymont's Pleasant Gap plant in Centre County, Pennsylvania has made a significant financial contribution towards a new Emergency Services Building for the Pleasant Gap Fire Company. The fire station services the local community and also the Pleasant Gap plant and mine. Graymont’s support, along with that of other local businesses, has allowed Spring Township to maintain property taxes constant even with construction of this significant piece of community infrastructure.

Boucherville - Graymont Western Canada's plant in Exshaw, Alberta is donating materials and equipment to the Calgary Quad Squad Association to help in the construction of bridges. The bridges cross waterways in the Waiprous Valley near Exshaw and will allow continued public access to trails in this area. The project is ongoing and Pierre Chassat, Exshaw's plant manager, continues to donate materials and equipment as needed. 

The Graymont Western Canada team helped sponsor two seminars that were presented by the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta in February as part of the Roadbuilder's ongoing seminar program.

Redi-RockAfter just one year producing Redi-Rock retaining wall blocks, Graymont Materials has tripled the size of its market territory. Through the Fall and Winter of 2006, Graymont negotiated Exclusive License Agreements for most of the Province of Quebec. Shortly after that, the Materials  Division negotiated with Carroll Concrete to take over as a sub-licensee for the Capital Region of New York State.

Boucherville - Graymont Western Canada's Plant in Faulkner, Manitoba has won the West Interlake Business Excellence Award 2006 for the municipality of Grahamdale.  Graymont's hard work, professionalism, commitment to their community, and high level of customer service were reasons cited for the selection.  The award was presented to Sirahuen Maldonado, Graymont plant manager at Faulkner.
